WHat to Expect
Your 5-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Shared road transfer from Johannesburg and afternoon Blyde Canyon boat cruise
Take an early-morning, air-conditioned shuttle from Johannesburg to the Blyde Canyon and Moholoholo Forest Lodge. The journey takes approximately five hours.
A private transfer will meet the shuttle for the remaining 30-minute drive into the canyon. Enjoy a light picnic lunch under a tree besides the pristine Blyde River before the 15:00 boat cruise.
The 90-minute cruise reveals the canyon from below, with views of the Three Rondavels and Mariepskop. Highlights include a rare 200-metre tufa waterfall, hippos and crocodiles, and wildlife such as kudu and duiker on the surrounding slopes. Look out for fish eagles, cormorants, kingfishers and other birdlife. Afterwards, transfer privately for about 45 minutes to Moholoholo Forest Lodge. Dinner is included; arrange an early-morning guided walk with your guide before the wildlife rehabilitation centre tour.

Day 2
Guided Morning Walk, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Tour, And Afternoon Game Drive In Greater Kruger- nDzuti Bush Camp.
The early-morning guided walk introduces tracking techniques and bush interpretation. After breakfast, visit Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to learn about its work and the challenges that arise where people and wildlife share the same landscape. As malaria control encouraged settlement near protected areas, human–wildlife conflict increased.
The centre cares for animals injured by human-related causes. Whenever possible, they are rehabilitated and released; those unable to return to the wild may take part in educational tours.
After the tour, a 45-minute private transfer takes you to nDzuti Bush Camp in Balule Game Reserve. The permanent safari tents overlook a waterhole and each has a private patio and screened bathroom with an open-air hot shower and flush toilet.
Game drives last about three hours and depart at dawn and dusk. Between drives, enjoy birding, relax in the upstairs lounge, swim in the pool, or watch wildlife at the waterhole from your private deck.
The drives explore the 8,000-hectare Maseke section in Balule Private Game Reserve, known for its rocky outcrops, Olifants River scenery, Big Five wildlife, diverse game and abundant birdlife.
In summer, resident birds are joined by migrants from Eurasia. Although summer is the rainy season, game drives generally continue year-round.
Included: Guided walk, wildlife rehabilitation centre tour, private transfer, and late-afternoon game drive continuing after dark.
Meals included: Breakfast, light lunch and dinner.
Accommodation: Safari tent with adjoining outdoor bathroom at nDzuti.
Day 3
Morning and afternoon game drives in Balule, with leisure time at camp
Enjoy a relaxed day at nDzuti: unwind in a hammock, watch elephants at the waterhole, look for owlet chicks in the trees, and have lunch in the pavilion. The three-hour dawn drive explores nDzuti’s varied concession, home to the Big Five and many other animals and birds. Your guide will interpret animal behaviour and use local knowledge to find the wildlife you hope to see.
The three-hour afternoon drive departs as the day cools and wildlife become more active. nDzuti traverses a productive section of Balule Game Reserve, which forms part of the 55,000-hectare Greater Kruger conservation area.
At sunset, stop for drinks and snacks before continuing after dark with a handheld spotlight.
Included: Morning and afternoon three-hour game drives.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and three-course dinner.
Accommodation: Safari tent with private adjoining outdoor bathroom at nDzuti.
Day 4
Morning and afternoon/evening guided game drives in Balule Private Reserve
Enjoy three-hour morning and afternoon game drives in an open safari vehicle. The reserve’s extensive, varied terrain offers changing scenery and opportunities to spot additional wildlife species while developing a greater appreciation for its abundant birdlife.
Included: Morning and afternoon three-hour game drives.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and three-course dinner.
Accommodation: Safari tent with private adjoining outdoor bathroom at nDzuti Bush Camp
Day 5
Morning three-hour game drive and shared road shuttle to Johannesburg

After breakfast, there is time for a quick shower before boarding the shared road shuttle back to Johannesburg.
