KwaMbili Game Lodge- Thornybush Private Game Reserve

R 4,500

Thornybush Game Reserve affordable accommodation in a tented game lodge with superb animal sightings and knowledgeable guiding.

The beauty of KwaMbili Tented Game Lodge in Thornybush lies in the personalised service in a small, intimate lodge and the brilliant game viewing typical of Thornybush Private Game Reserve.  KwaMbili accommodates just ten guests at any one time. The accommodation is in four large safari tents and one thatched chalet. One tent can accommodate a family of four. All tents have air conditioning and en suite bathrooms with a shower and toilet cubicle. The tents are positioned on the outskirts of the camp, facing out with a pleasing view over the bush and no fence to spoil it. Each tent has a wooden decked patio area with seating for a private relaxing time in between morning and afternoon game drives. The tents have a thatched roof over the canvas room and fly sheet, adding to the comfort and keeping the accommodation cool in summer.

Defined walkways link the tents to the main lodge where there is a swimming pool with chaize lounges arranged around it. The main open-plan lodge area has a comfortable lounge and adjacent library as well as a dining area where lunch and breakfast are served. There is a reeded circle with seating around a fire pedestal and, it is here that dinner is served around a crackling fire. After dinner, a ranger will accompany guests to their tents. The camp is not fenced and animals are often encountered passing through the camp grounds.

KwaMbili has ranger and tracker teams that take guests on morning and afternoon game drives on the 15,000-ha Thornybush Private Game Reserve. These teams work together extensively, spending up to seven hours a day, working to track down and find the best possible sightings of wildlife for their guests. The game drives are timed to be out on the reserve when animals are most active- typically at dusk and dawn. Children under 6 may not go on the scheduled drives and parents can make use of a babysitting service to watch over the kids during game drives.  After breakfast, there is a shorter game drive going out for the younger children.
